We are thrilled to welcome Judy Barr to Matan’s Board of Directors. A lifelong advocate for disability rights and inclusion, Judy’s passion for the work began in law school, where she participated in a Disability Law Clinic. Barr’s passion for inclusion deepened as she witnessed the impact of inclusion in her family. Her niece becoming a Bat Mitzvah was a powerful reminder of what is possible when every individual is embraced in the Jewish community.

Judy brings to Matan more than two decades of legal experience as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland, where she oversaw the implementation of additional programs and services for visually and hearing-impaired incarcerated individuals. A native Washingtonian, she has been an active volunteer and leader in her children’s schools and family’s synagogue. We are grateful for Judy’s expertise and dedication, and look forward to the insight and energy she will bring to our mission of building a more inclusive Jewish community.
