Matan in the Field

Wherever Jewish communities are working to become more welcoming and inclusive, chances are Matan has been part of the conversation.

Over the past several months, our team has partnered with synagogues, schools, camps, Federations, and Jewish organizations across North America, delivering professional development, coaching, consultations, webinars, and community-wide assessments that help turn inclusion into everyday practice.

This winter alone, we presented for organizations including Jewish Changemakers, the Jewish Grandparents Network, UJA Federation of New York, Ramah’s Tikvah Network, and Temple Sholom in Bridgewater. We also continued our partnership with Jewish LearningWorks through a multi-part webinar series supporting educators working with neurodivergent learners, including those with anxiety and autism.

Our work in congregational schools and early childhood programs has also continued to grow. Matan partnered with Temple Beth El in Ithaca, Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, Rodeph Sholom School, Temple Sinai Early Childhood Education Program, and the Shalom School in Sacramento to provide professional development and coaching on topics ranging from behavior support and sensory regulation to family partnerships and understanding neurodiversity.

This spring, we reached educators nationwide through the BJE-LA Bebe Feuerstein Simon Early Childhood Institute, CAJE Miami, Kavanah’s Day of Learning Conference, ElevatED, and a webinar series for Jewish day camp professionals. We also continued (and concluded!) our Communities of Practice with Har Zion Temple in Pennsylvania, CAJE Miami, and congregational school inclusion specialists from across the country, helping educators learn from one another as they implement inclusive practices.

Beyond professional learning, Matan launched community-wide disability inclusion assessment work with the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and a community consultation process in Durham, North Carolina.

And that’s only part of the story. Every week, the Matan team is partnering with communities across the continent to help ensure that more people with disabilities and their families can fully participate in Jewish life. We’re grateful to be part of this growing movement and excited for what’s ahead.
