Matan Alliance for Disability Inclusion

Creating Jewish Communities Where Everyone Belongs

In the news: Explore MADI’s official press release and recent coverage in The Algemeiner to see how we’re helping Jewish organizations build communities where everyone belongs.

WHAT

The Matan Alliance for Disability Inclusion (MADI) is the first-of-its-kind national framework for Jewish organizations committed to building communities where people with disabilities truly belong. Through practical tools, training, coaching, and a clear tiered pathway, MADI supports organizations in turning values into action – and making inclusion visible, meaningful, and sustainable.

WHY

Every Jewish community wants to be a place where all people feel welcome, supported, and able to participate fully. Yet with 1 in 4 people living with a disability, mental health challenge, or other form of neurodivergence, many organizations are still looking for the tools, knowledge, and confidence to meet the needs of their constituents.

WHO

Whether your organization is just beginning this journey or already leading in inclusive practice, the Matan Alliance for Disability Inclusion offers a clear pathway forward. MADI brings together synagogues, JCC’s, Federations and partner organizations to offer a guided pathway from good intentions to actionable plans and a method for meaningful recognition.

HOW

The Matan Alliance for Disability Inclusion supports Jewish organizations in advancing inclusive practice through accessible training and a clear framework aligned with the broader communal commitment to equity and belonging.

Program Structure

The Matan Alliance for Disability Inclusion is a tiered affiliation in which organizations can progress through three levels of engagement:

Ally Partner Leader

The model combines virtual learning, live facilitation, and ongoing support from Matan experts in order to:

  • Professionalize inclusion as a core competency in Jewish communal life
  • Offer public accountability and recognition for organizational progress
  • Support long-term culture change across the Jewish ecosystem

Who Should Join the Matan Alliance for Disability Inclusion?

The Matan Alliance is Designed for:

Jewish organizations that want to strengthen accessibility, belonging, and inclusive practice across their community. While schools are not currently part of this initiative, ideal participants include:

  • Jewish Federations
Looking to set a communal standard for inclusion and support agencies across their region.
  • Synagogues
Seeking practical tools to welcome and support individuals and families with diverse needs (separate from congregational and early childhood schools).
  • Jewish Community Centers
Building inclusive programs, events, and environments for members across the lifespan.
  • Jewish Communal Organizations
Committed to making inclusion part of their culture, policies, and daily operations.

The Alliance is Great for Your Organization if You:

  • Want a structured, step-by-step approach to advancing inclusion.
  • Value expert guidance and practical resources.
  • Are ready to make measurable progress at your own pace.
  • Believe inclusion strengthens your community and enriches Jewish life.

Alliance Pricing

Matan’s tiered pricing model ensures that organizations of all sizes—from small to large agencies—can access the training, resources, and support they need to advance disability inclusion. Pricing is based on your organization’s annual operating budget and is reviewed annually.

Why Budget-Based Pricing?

Jewish communal organizations vary widely in structure, resources, and capacity. A budget-based model helps ensure that:

  • Participation remains accessible regardless of organizational size
  • Smaller organizations are not priced out of meaningful partnership
  • Larger organizations contribute proportionally to sustain collective impact

This approach allows Matan to support a diverse range of synagogues, agencies, and federations—strengthening disability inclusion across the entire Jewish community.
