This July, Matan officially launched the first of its kind Jewish Early Childhood Curriculum – Matan Katan! We are extremely proud that in the two short weeks since it launched, Matan Katan has already been purchased by 26 different communities.
Like everything we do at Matan, Matan Katan is specially designed to meet the needs of learners with a wide variety of needs. Matan Katan is made up of 25 already differentiated lesson plans which include flexible 2.5 hours of instructional materials. In addition, the curriculum offers an inclusive way to design and set up child-directed centers, visual tefilot and brachot, and an introduction to the Aleph Bet. The lessons are ready to print and use in congregational schools, early childhood centers, or anywhere young children learn and get excited about their Judaism.
At Matan, aim to help Jewish educators make inclusion a given. But we also recognize the amount of work that goes into running a Jewish educational program whether it is a congregational school, early childhood center, or day school. Educators are severely lacking the resources that they need in order to provide high quality, inclusive Jewish education. With Matan Katan, we believe we can help to meet this need. By providing educators with this comprehensive curriculum, we hope that inclusion will become a part of the fabric of the classroom. We have said for years that special education is just really good education, and these lessons prove that. The goal is that Matan Katan can help launch a lifetime of love for Judaism and Jewish learning for our youngest students!
